Which SUV suits the trip

Our SUVs are mid-size: comfortable for five, with a boot that takes a week's luggage or a boot-load of beach gear. They are the right answer for a family week in Clearwater or a drive across the bay to St. Petersburg.

They are not seven-seaters. If you need a third row we would rather tell you now than have you arrive hopeful — for six or more, two cars usually works out better than one you cannot fit into.

Driving an SUV around Tampa Bay

Most of what visitors want is spread across the bay and awkward without a car. Clearwater Beach is around 45 minutes from downtown Tampa in normal traffic, and considerably more on a sunny Saturday. St. Petersburg is a similar run over the Howard Frankland.

Parking near the beaches is metered and fills early — arriving before ten or after four is the difference between a five-minute walk and a thirty-minute one. Several of the causeways carry tolls, so a SunPass or a rental toll transponder saves you the by-mail admin fee.

200 miles a day, then $0.35 a mile. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup. Bring the car back with a full tank or we refuel it and add the fuel plus a service fee.

The price you see when you pick your dates is the price — any location surcharge is shown before you pay, not added at collection.

Common questions

Do you have a seven-seater?

No. Our SUVs seat five. For a larger group, two vehicles is usually both cheaper and more comfortable than one that does not fit.

Can I take the SUV to Clearwater or St. Pete?

Yes — anywhere in Florida is fine. The mileage allowance is generous enough for beach trips across the bay, and going over is charged per mile rather than refused.

Are child seats available?

Child seats are offered as an extra when you book. Florida law requires a restraint for children under six, so add it at the booking step rather than hoping on the day.
